Aaron and Olivia share an October birthday, and we decided it was time to get them a play kitchen as their big birthday present. This little set has been perfect for both of them, and anytime we have a playdate, this kitchen is a highlight!
The kitchen itself is the go-to Ikea set. I love how simple it is, the fact that it has mild colors, and that it's made out of wood! Also, if you Pinterest "Ikea play kitchen makeover," you will be overwhelmed with how many ways you can customize this kitchen to match your style and the color-scheme of your house!
Maybe one of these days, I'll get creative with their play kitchen, but for now I'm enjoying adding touches of seasonal decor to keep it fresh.
Here are a few of my favorite kitchen accessories I've added to their play kitchen:
This is my favorite addition! It's wood. It's mild colors that don't clash with my house. And it's the perfect size!
Also, Hape is just the best. I highly recommend looking through their toys!
Wooden Tea Set
This set is a gem! It's definitely smaller than I was expecting, but Olivia still loves it! We've had tea parties with her dolls, and it's the cutest thing watching her pour herself a cup of tea. Aaron has even used them with our rice sensory bins to make "rice tea" and "rice soup."
I found this set on Amazon, but it mysteriously disappeared. So sad! I'll update this if it comes back!
Hape makes a similar set that you can check out here: Wooden Tea Set
It's a challenge to find plates, pots, pans, silverware, and cups that aren't neon or primary colors. I finally found the perfect set from Melissa & Doug! It even comes with the cutest salt and pepper shakers (a definite favorite), an olive oil "bottle," and an oven mitt/towel set!
A few more things we've added to full stock our kitchen:
And check out the Bullseye Playground (the $1-5 section) at Target! I think about half of our kitchen accessories is from that section. They have so many wooden food toys right now, and a lot of their decoration items tend to run small, which is perfect for a kid-sized kitchen!
