Mother's Day Craft

Mother's Day is just two weeks away! We wanted to make some special crafts for my mom and mother-in-law, and we planned ahead to make sure we could get ahold of all of the supplies. It feels like during this quarantine season, all of the craft materials are disappearing like toilet paper!

I was able to order almost everything through my Walmart Grocery Pick-Up, and I only had to buy one of the paint colors at Target during a grocery run. I ordered photo prints through Costco, and they're not charging anything to have them mailed to your home during this quarantine season!

Supplies:

  • Wooden Heart Frame (added to grocery order at Walmart)

  • Craft Acrylic Paint (added to grocery order at Walmart or picked up at Target while grocery shopping)

  • Paintbrushes

  • Paint Palette or paper plate

  • Craft tray or paper/newspaper to put underneath while painting

  • Scrapbook Letters (I literally dug through my old scrapbooking box and was so happy to find these on hand!)

  • Craft Gems & Sequins (also added to grocery order at Walmart)

  • Elmer's glue

I chose three colors that would look pretty when mixed together because, let's be real... it's toddlers! There's no time to wash out the brush between colors.

Also, I did this painting activity plus several others all in one day. It takes awhile to pull out the materials and to clean up, so I wanted to get as much out of it as I could! Here's what else we did in one sitting.

We painted a full page on top of contact paper "stickers" that I cut into shapes. I also painted some leftover penne noodles while they were doing their projects. I'm planning to use them for stringing activities for Olivia. We'll string them onto pipe cleaner and make necklaces! We also painted a couple of rocks, which is always a great way to use up leftover paint.

I love that their painting came out so differently! Olivia's has bold, thick colors that I think is just gorgeous!

To complement the paint, I went with mild, white letters and just a little cluster of craft gems. It felt like the frame was too busy if I covered it in gems and sequins.

Aaron loves blending all of the colors, and he's pretty meticulous to make it look smooth and cover all of the area. This peachy pink color is so pretty!

Since his paint color was more mild, we had fun with sparkly, silver letters and lots of gems and sequins!

Their photo prints are coming in the mail any day now! I can't wait to add it as the final touch to these gifts!

Don't forget to sign the back, and you have the perfect gift for the mamas in your life!!
