If you don't have one yet, get yourself a sensory bin setup! It's a life-changing tool with toddlers in the house. Today by 11:00 am, Olivia was very honest about having cabin fever. Her tears started pouring, she was asking for things I couldn't decipher, and she wanted to be held and put down at the same time (has anyone else experienced this?!). I knew she needed something new to stimulate her and give her a chance to happily play with Aaron. So I pulled out our rice sensory bin and put a little St. Patrick's day twist on it. I always pull out spoons, bowls, cups, funnels, and scoops, but today's twist was hiding gold coins in the rice. It's amazing that one small addition and the whole bin feels brand new! It also quickly turned into a great counting game for Aaron as he started making piles of coins.
Olivia's tears stopped instantly once she saw it all set up in her room, and the tears were replaced with the sweetest giggles! Even when she was done playing, she was still giggly and could enjoy the little things again. Instead of trying an early nap and throwing off her routine, she was able to reset and keep going with her day!
Supplies: • Large Plastic Bin - I got mine at a dollar store. Definitely on the small side, but it works! • Blanket or tablecloth underneath to catch all of the loose rice • Grab any cups, spoons, scoops, funnels, measuring cups you have around. These teal scoops came from Hobby Lobby this month, and they're perfect! • Gold plastic coins (again, found at a dollar store) or any kind of “treasure” your little one wants to hunt for
