I'm so excited to start this on Monday, February 1st! Each day in February leading up to Valentine's, my kids will get a letter in their mailbox with a little chocolate or candy for each of them! Inside the letter, I'm writing one thing that I love about them. Then on the back, I'm writing a name of a family member or friend. After they soak in their own love note, they'll decorate and write a love note to the person I named on the back of the card. It'll turn into a "pay-it-forward," love note style!
I'll have an open-ended card decorating station with some basic Valentine's stickers, stamps, and markers. Each day, I'll be sure to ask and write down what they love about each person, but I'm guessing we'll end up making the cards all at once or maybe split into 2-3 sessions. I'll have it available each day, but I'll let them take the lead based on their interest.
I'm excited to make it an intentional time for me to share the many things I love about them, and for them to practice thinking about and blessing others with their words!
Make Your Own Love Notes Mailbox:
This little mailbox was a quick and easy DIY, but you can also leave your mailbox as-is to save time!
Small metal mailbox - local dollar store
Or... larger paper mache mailbox - Target, Hobby Lobby, or Michael's
Craft Paint - Metal is not the best to paint on, so just don't look closely, haha! But it gets the job done!
Letter Stickers - Mine are from Hobby Lobby!
Decorations - I kept mine simple and just added some sticker felt hearts (dollar store). You can also add pipe cleaners, yarn, felt, gems, glitter, etc. to make it extra festive.
Small Cards & Envelopes - These are from Hobby Lobby, and they're the perfect size!
Small chocolates and candy
14 cards for friends and family - You can make them out of construction paper or buy some blank note cards. I bought this pack and have been using them for occasions year-round!
