This week was all things "O." Of course we had to munch on "O" shaped snacks while we worked (Fruitful O's Cereal by Cascadian Farm), and we put those O's to work making sequences!

  • Letter Recognition: The letter "O" is an easy one since it's a circle. This one usually teaches itself.

  • Sound Recognition: We had "O" shaped cereal (long-O sound) that we put on the Octopus (short-O sound)

  • Sequencing: We practiced putting the Fruitful O's in order by color, first with a simple A-B-A-B sequence, and then with the more challenging A-A-B-A-A-B sequence. For even more practice, you can add 3 colors.

  • Fine-Motor Skills: It takes a lot of coordination to pick up the right little "O" piece and then place it in line with the others without pushing them out of place. They stayed in the lines of the octopus's arm as a guide.

Supplies:

I loved the colors of the Fruitful O's Cereal by Cascadian Farm. I'll definitely be buying more of these in the future!
